Finally, our trip to DC is HERE! Even though we’re only going for a few days, it’s still a nice get away from the day-to-day. When planning the trip we decided to take the red-eye from SFO so we could get into DC early on Thursday. We left home around 9pm just to make sure we had plenty of time to reach the airport in case traffic was bad, etc… Good thing we did because we had a tire blowout about ½ mile from the airport!! Long story short, we had to call a tow truck because Audi didn’t provide the correct lug nut wrench size… UGH! Anyway, we made it to the airport on time and eventually to DC after a short layover in Minneapolis. After checking into the hotel we took a short walk over to the White House. We walked around looking for any remaining cherry blossoms that were still in bloom and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Later on in the afternoon we took in a play at Ford’s Theater called ‘Civil War’. It was an amazing and very emotional experience for both of us, not only do you think about the assassination but also all the struggles that were going on at the time. After the play we took the metro down to the mall to get some night shots of the Washington and WWII monuments. -M
