Baby Shower
Published Saturday, November 20, 2010WOW, what a weekend!
It all kicked off with my Mom and Vidal driving up from Reno on Friday night. They arrived around 8pm; we hung out, had some beers, ate dinner and then headed off to bed. We were expecting my girlfriends (Nicole, Crystal and Tricia) from Southern CA to show up sometime after midnight. I was so excited that they decided to make the trip up here just for my baby shower! Perfect timing too, just when I awoke worried that something was wrong, Crystal sent a text that they were at our exit :0 ) After a quick tour of the house, the front wing, we got them tucked in to get some sleep.
Finally, Saturday was here, the day of our baby shower! I worked very hard getting all the decorations, games and food together while Matt was in India (I think it’s what kept me sane without him here). Susan, one of our neighbors who we’ve become good friends with, helped with a lot of the preparation and even offered to be the host of the shower by running the games and keeping things on schedule! A little after 9 we packed our cars and headed off to the party location (we rented the clubhouse at our old apartment complex, it’s a great venue for these types of parties). As we arrived at the clubhouse I noticed my girlfriend Patience and her daughter Morgan were already there to help with set up and decorations!
Guests started arriving as we were finishing the set up and all were so helpful in getting the food and drinks out. All in all, we had a great turn out with about 26 ladies showed up in all! We even had a few little ones running around which provided for a perfect ‘what to expect’ atmosphere. About halfway through the shower Matt’s surprise showed up… A young man ran into the party and stated that there was a small child outside without it’s parents. Having lived in the complex and knowing a family with small children that still reside there, I walked to the front to make sure the child was okay. I looked outside and was surprised by a gorilla in a baby diaper and bonnet standing just outside the door. Not the child I was anticipating!!! He serenaded me with ‘she’s a jolly good mother’, gave me a bit of parenting advice and went on his way. All the while I stood there thinking of ways I was going to get Matt back! I’d been Bucchi’d!! (Matt sent a singing gorilla to his friend as a birthday gift and we now call it being Bucchi’d)
The games were a lot of fun and we were given some beautiful and thoughtful baby gifts. The best girlfriends and family a girl could ask for! Thank you for making this such a wonderful day!
